Ever feel totally lost? I mean "Lost at Sea," or "Lost in Space lost?' This was me when I began my journey into the world of digital marketing, content creation, and data analytics. I am video editor and film producer by default, producing content for You Tube, Facebook, and Instagram channels. What peaked my interest in digital marketing was a request for proposals from a local city. The request was for a destination marketing and branding project. I didn't know a lot about all the particulars, at the time, but became increasingly interested in the prospect of solving this scope-of-work request.
After reading over the basic particulars and counseling with two of my highly experienced business mentors, I became inspired. You see, the city's request was to build a brand and strategy, to help them restore and rebuild their tourism industry, provide measureable research based solutions for attracting a new target audience to relocate into the region, and incorporate this new brand strategy so the city's marketing partners can be better integrated into the brand. Pretty challenging stuff for sure. So how can digital mrketing solve this problem?
Well borrowing a few snipets from some of my more experienced associates, "First Things First," and "KISS" (Keep It Simple Stupid). Easy for them to say, I thought. Well the beauty of data analytics, it's methodology, and toolbox, allows seemingly very complicated problems to be systematically addressed using 5 defined project based steps: Identifying the problem, designing data requirements, pre-processing data, data analysis, and visualizing the data. After this process has been carefully examined and shared with people well acquainted with the context (called subject matter experts), the analytics gave in-depth information about root causes of the problem, while providing measureable and marketable solutions.
This is why the valuable tools of digital marketing, such as Content Marketing, SEO, SEM, SMM, and Display Ads tools could be accurately applied and quantifiably measured. The most exciting thing for me, was the opportunity to apply my data analytics and digital marketing certifications in a real world setting. So next time you're faced with a business, government, or a healthcare problem, that requires innovative problem solving solutions, just hire a digital marketer utilizing data analytics, and content producer, to turn that frown upside down.
